I received this e-mail on my personal e-mail address

Hi Shipspotters,

My name is Jorgen Lonn, 76 years old and living in Stockholm with my wife Gunnel after nearly 30 years in the merchant navy under different flags as Catering officer. Mostly onboard on tankers.

Doi you want to swapping photos? Can send you photos of tankers, bulkers etc.,. from the Scandinavian countries (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland) etc.,. and send them via www.wetransfer.com.

In return I was tankers and bulkers from different countries.

I can send you photos of ships from many different countries.

Will send you some photos via www.wetransfer.com now.

Vänliga hälsningar/Best Regards,
Jörgen

From the address bar it seems that others have received this e-mail too. Just wandering if it is something legit? Why would this man e-mail us instead of posting a message here on the forum?
There was another e-mail from him sending me some files. What is with that? Why would he want to exchange photos when he can simply download them from here? And why is it important to say that he lives with his wife?
Any thoughts?

I think it is not fake or dangerous, but he is a very busy collector.
His name and that of his wife is in the telephone register of Stockholm.
His photo's and text can also be found on websites like merchant-navy.net,  flickr-tanker-groups, the Dutch website Kombuispraat and the tanker-website of Auke Visser.
Swedish people find the family very important and his wife seems to share his interest.
But I think he does not realize that the members of the website have already "emptied" their collection on this website so there is not much new to find for him.
And maybe he is not yet familiar with the button "save this image as"   :-))

I received the same message, and had been in contact with him before some years ago. Problem with these collectors is that you do not know what he has and he is not aware of what you have, so swapping will take at lot of work to find the pictures you want and for him the pictures he wants. So unless you have ages of time available, it might be easier to roam the internet.
