I hope someone does buy and save the Astoria as she is both a old famous ship (Built as Stockholm in 1948, collision with Andrea Doria in 1956) and the last Swedish American Line still existing (since the scrapping of the 1965 Kungsholm in 2016).

MARCO POLO showing destination Dubai when she left here (Falmouth) last night (22nd). So....not heading to Aliaga after all. Maybe onward to a breaker's yard further east? Alang, Chittagong maybe?

Apparently, the Marco Polo is laid up in Dubai, UAE and is being chartered by whoever bought her. If someone does charter her for more cruising or to become a floating hotel, than she could still be saved. If noone charters her within a month, she will head to Alang, India to be scrapped.

Is there a reason why Astoria isn't sailing to Lisbon under her own power?

Some Facebook pages suggest steering problems, others suggest towing gear problems.
