Let's hope Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line buys the Magellan (ex. Holiday) on October 19.

No news yet who has bought her but I've heard that Phoenix Reisen has sold Albatros and that she will become an hotel ship.

Found the link for the Albatros being sold. Apparently, she is being sold to become a hotel ship. I suspect whoever bought her is the same one that bought her sisters former Fred Olsen vessels Black Watch and Boudicca. Here is the link.

Since the Vasco Da Gama has been sold, four remain. Here are the dates for sale.

COLUMBUS, 12th October 2020
MAGELLAN, 19th October 2020
ASTOR, 15th October 2020
MARCO POLO, 22nd October 2020

It is an Egyptian hotel chain that has bought Albatros.

It has been confirmed that the buyer of Vasco Da Gama is a Portuguese river and expedition cruise operator, Mystic Invest. They claim their intention is to deploy the ship either in the UK or German cruise market. This of course is how CMV employed the ship, though mainly in the German market. So I'm wondering if we are not beginning to see the revival of CMV.

Astor is to be sold in two days. Also, any discussion on Phoenix Reisen's Albatros is to be done in the topic I have linked instead. http://forum.shipspotting.com/index.php/topic,17027.0.html

Can I suggest that a new topic will be started titled : CURRENT DEVELOPMENTS IN THE CRUISE INDUSTRY? which will include all the previous posts on the different companies that are closing down and ships that are being sold for scrap?

Excellent idea. Someone talking sense at last. There is someone on here who probably should set up their own Cruise Industry blog. ::)

There's some news. Apparently, the Columbus has been sold to a Turkish company for around 7 million. The new owner has not been named, but people suspect it's Miray International, since they also bought Fred Olsen's Black Watch and Boudicca.

However, the 'anonymous' turkish owner said that they would not operate the vessel, which means they're going to either resell it or scrap it. If they do scrap the vessel, it would be disappointing as she is the last vessel to sail for Sitmar Cruises (albeit briefly) that's still around. Here is the link to the article: https://www.cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/23685-columbus-sold-ship-to-stay-in-limbo-status.html

Also, the Astor is to be sold today.

Just a small point. Whilst the ship did indeed carry the name Sitmar FairMajesty she never sailed as such. Before she was completed P&O acquired Princess Cruises and Sitmar FairMajesty became a Princess Cruises vessel upon her entry into service, Sitmar having been wiped from existence by P&O - to their shame.
