separate photo category for fish factories/fish processors
« on: June 28, 2020, 02:08:03 PM »
Once more I want to explore the possibility for a separate photo category for fish factories/fish processors. A number of these pass through the Inside Passage each season to and from Alaska.

Some are huge; others are smaller, like Angie, IMO 7309297, a former US Army BSP (barge, self-propelled)
converted to fish processor:

These vessels don't look like fishing vessels, work like fishing vessels and more important, they are not even classified as such (carry no ADFG registrations).

You raised this last year, Dirk, and we changed the categories as a consequence last April.
See http://forum.shipspotting.com/index.php/topic,16551.0.html

May I also remind members generally to kindly place their uploads of fishing and related vessels in the appropriate sub-category.  It's written politely and plainly in in the category guidance:
Quote
PLEASE DO NOT UPLOAD TO the category titled FISHING VESSELS or to NEAR SHORE FISHING VESSELS
http://www.shipspotting.com/support/faq.php?category=Fishing%20Vessels

Would erring members please move their photos to the right subcategory.  If in doubt which it is, please ask.
