Problems with my photos.
« on: August 07, 2022, 05:33:44 PM »
I have a serious problem with either my pc or my camera and it is the following

After taking my photos and transferring them to my computer and editing them with the windows program, irfanview or picassa, the photos are stored perfectly and with the original color; however once I exit the file and open it to view my photos once more, they are in black and white even though the thumbnail shows them to be in color.

My camera is a Canon Power Shot SX530 HS.

Please, if you are so kind to guide me through this problem, I will be deeply grateful.

Kind Regards

Tomi

which program do you use to reopen the shots after processing?

I usually open my photos with Irfanview, I had never experienced that problem in the past.

Hi Tomi,

Perhaps you saved the file in Irfanview as a grayscale jpeg. If you open a image in Irfanview and at the end select "save as" you will see a menu showing quality options. First is "progressive jpeg" and then you'll see "Save as Grayscale option (please remember!) ".  Perhaps you have ticked that box and forgot about it?

Cheers

Pieter

Thanks Pieter, I am sure that I have not filed any of my photos under black and white or grayscale option, I think that could be due to a technician program upon restarting my pc.

Regards

Tomi.
