Safmarine Mulanje sailed from Auckland 11 October for Lyttelton but didn't make it. According to POAL there is a MPI (pest control) issue with the vessel and she is to return to Auckland, berthing at 2100 14 October. She will be in port until the 16th when she will go out to anchor, returning again at 0500 on the 18th. She will finally sail at 0730 on the 19th.
I don't know if she is going to do her coastal port calls, any info would be appreciated.

Ok, now she is sailing back and forth in the Hauraki Gulf, and expected to berth 0100 on 18 October and sail 1500. That's alot of sailing in a small space.

Right. Tonight, 15 October she is off Gisborne, and Napier has her due tomorrow morning. Auckland still has her listed for 0500 on 18th.

Due to two accidents with crew on the Capitaine Wallis at Norfolk Island, the next voyage will be her last. The Southern Tiare will do two voyages after that, while a permanent vessel is acquired to start in 2020. They are also looking at the possibilty of motorised barges to take the containers to shore for unloading, rather than having to unload the cargo on the ships deck and then transferring to lighters.

It appears that the JPO Tucana which has been operating on the North Asia Service under COSCO charter for the last 6 years, has just been renamed Toucan Hunter, and will continue to operate on the same service.

Does anyone know what is happening with Kokopo Chief?
Ports of Auckland movements said "ordered to leave by 2359 on 29 November". She is now off Gt Barrier Island.
The cement shipment she was to load at Northport for Lyttelton is now going on the Soochow.

Kokopo Chief has been sailing back and forth off Gt Barrier Island since 30 November. She is due to berth at Northport at 1800 on 16th December. That's alot of time just sailing in a circle.

Hey Stephen
Naah you not alone, just nothing to report. All services seem to be stable except for Maersk Triple Star which is going through a major transformation, the 9,000 TEU's replaced by likes of 4,250 TEU's following a split with the South American trade. Last of the bigship's Maersk Skarsting sailed Tauranga last Wednesday, first of the new breeds the 4,338 TEU company vessel Grasmere Maersk arrives tomorrow 11th to start the revised Tauranga-HKG-Shanghai shuttle with four other vessels.
You asked about the marking time in Hauraki Gulf by Kokopo Chief currently, she had fouling of her hull so was directed by MPI to be cleaned before returning to trade.
Not aware of any other changes.
Cheers
Brent

Kokopo Chief is now on her way to Brisbane, which is not a port on her schedule. She did not load in NZ so maybe heading for drydock.
