I wondered why she was hanging about in the estuary all day when she was due at Tilbury around midday.

Is this the same photo: https://www.itv.com/news/2018-12-21/police-essex-mirgrants-ships/

If so, it is by member "har", though credited to Grimaldi Lines:

Most media are using the freely-available image by Farid Mernissi from Wikimedia.

The Times

Photo is credited to "shipsinfo.com", with no mention of their acknowledged source, shipspotting

Meanwhile "shipsinfo.com" fails to credit the actual photographer, John White

Prison? (but we have to feed them)  and deportation might deter others.

"We have to feed them" - What you'd rather? Let them starve?? Jesus...

I always wonder how thoroughly people manage to overlook the fact that someone who's desperate enough to jump overboard or endanger their lives in small inflatables must have been in hardships beyond our imagination. Of course, threatening crew is not OK, but it's a human tragedy still.
Regards,
Max
