Hi Peter,

Are you sure she's going for scrap? She was sold at auction on 19/10/2018 to Micoperi SRL for further trading.

I think Phil is right. Sold to Micoperi, Italy for further trading. Perhaps she will be towed there ?
There is a document about the sale of the vessels here :

Hi Peter,

The chains on the bow are there to create a towing bridle and that's normal procedure for a tow.
Only when good weather or short tow you can tow on a single bridle or wire.
With coastal tow/Ocwan tows it's normal procedure to rig up a towing bridle wich normally consists of chains until the triangle plate or a combination of chains and steel wires till the triangle plate.
The advantage of the combination is the reduction in weight of the bridle.

Best regards

Peter the CENTAURUS (IMO 9433755) came into Vittoria Dock 21/11 and returned to the Bar anchorage 22/11. Departure - initially with local tugs - is reportedly due to happen tomorrow (24/11) morning tide. Its dangerous to presume but presumably he Centaurus will do the onward tow. Where to ???

Thanks Leon , Nektarios and Neil
The ship is manned and has power , must be cheaper to tow her rather than sail her
I have my doubts though , I wonder where she is going

Probably going under tow as most surveys overdue and certificates expired

According to this site she is going to Micoperi SP, Mexico (note also list of buyers of the other Toisa vessels recently sold):

Just to clarify Sam - only Toisa Intrepid left Hull so far, under tow of Amber II bound for Romania. Toisa Conqueror renamed Nautilus, crew on board but awaiting MCA survey. No other confirmed activity as yet on remaining vessels.

No Toisa vessels in Grimsby.

Toisa Coral at Goole was due to be towed but apparently may need to sail under own power.
