Concrete Ships in BC: The Powell River Floating Breakwater
« on: September 17, 2018, 09:35:47 AM »
Hi all,

I will be visiting the subject some time next week, let's say Wednesday.

This also means I will be in and around Vancouver, BC from Tuesday 25 to Friday 28, so there's that standard beer offer.

Also, I will arrange for a car, so if anybody wants to join me for a trip from Vancouver to Powell River, they're welcome.

Cheers

Vlad

One of the ships in the breakwater, YOGN-82, was reefed on 23 June 2018.  That was the first of four, but I do not think that the other three have been named yet.

Thanks for the info, David.

I hope there will still be something for me to see when I get there... :)

Vlad,

Your upcoming West Coast Canada trip sounds very interesting. Powell River about a 5 hr drive from Vancouver via "Sunshine" Coast Highway. Never travelled it but I understand it's well worth the drive. Especially on a "sunny" day      :-)
Looking forward to seeing uploads from your Canadian visit.

Andre

PS: Living on the East Coast I manage to get out to Vancouver only a couple of times a year (next planned trip mid December).

Here's an update.

Found a boater willing to take me to the hulks.

There'll be more of those. :)

On a different note, the deer is dead, and the rental car is damaged. But not immobilized, and not dangerous to drive, as ascertained by the RCMP.

So, the trip will go on. :)
