I have recently bought a 21" monitor, my old one was 18" (I think). When viewed in "full screen" mode, all of the photos were filling the whole screen. Now with the new monitor, most photos I look at in full screen mode do not fill the entire monitor. This is the case with all of my photos. Some photos of other members however fill the whole screen. What is the deal with that? How can I set my computer or camera (Nikon Coolpix L830) so that the photos fill the entire screen?
Many thanks.

Hi,

I do not use a Nikon camera, but it may be down to some setting that adjusts the picture ratio.  I would think that on a full screen setting on the website, a 6x4 image would stretch further across the screen than a 7x5 (figures are inches - 2.54 centimetres/inch).  The problem with changing such a setting may also adjust your megapixel figure, but that may not be an issue if you are not producing large hard-copy.

I'm no expert but the above may help, no doubt someone with a Nikon can help you further.

Best regards

Tom

Hi,

it has something to do with the display aspect ratio
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Display_aspect_ratio

Pls check the settings of yr camera and of the monitor and compare

One idea would be to hold control key and hit plus sign then minus when finished

Perhaps your new monitor has higher resolution (more pixels) than the old one, and some photographs just don't fill it completely at 100% magnification.
