That is the one thing I miss about Southampton, getting ships as they arrive. I hope I can get up early enough to get down to East Cowes to see her outward in the Solent tomorrow morning - she's sailing at (at the moment) 0730 - but as I'm useless at getting up early this may not happen!  :-D

Talk about getting up early!
This ship was due in Southampton at 08:00 today.
This usually means it will pass Calshot at around 07:00 and to get there from Basingstoke, I should leave the house at 06:00.
I got up at 05:00 and checked on Ship Plotter to see where it was; no sign.
After a cup of coffee, I checked again and it was approaching Ryde!
After a high speed shower, shave and drive, I got to Calshot at the same time as the ship at 06:20!
So I was unable to get a bow view photo.

She sailed this morning at 0800 and I got to East Cowes after negotiating the most hideous rush hour traffic (exacerbated by the IoW Festival; got a nice drive to work to look forward to later - my place of work's next to the festival site  ) and, after a half hour wait for her to pass Fawley and get into the Solent I got some lovely long range shots. I used a huge 170-500mm zoom and it's a horribly hazy morning (even if the sunshine is lovely!) but my photos have turned out nicely - I even managed to avoid getting white sailed vermin, with which the Solent was infested even at that earlyish hour, in my photos. I'll put them on my website later. Well worth sacrificing a lie in for :-D
