Cees Bustraan

It is sad to report that "Our man in Curacao" and long-standing member, Cees Bustraan, passed away on 9 June.  He leaves us with a fine gallery of quality images, recording almost everything maritime that has happened at Willemstad over the last six years, and it stands as a worthy tribute to him.

On behalf of the community here, I record our condolences and best wishes to his family and friends.

Very sad to hear this. His gallery includes a lot of ships not recorded elsewhere on the site, as well as those being broken up by local scrappers.

Condolences to his family.

Shocking news. Sad to hear. A great loss.

I have always appreciated Cees' contributions to the site. Since the early days of my membership here, I have always looked at his photos with respect, and as a source of inspiration for my own work.

My condolences to his loved ones.

I am so sorry to hear and all I can do at this time is to offer my sincere regrets. Ship enthusiasts are such a rare breed.  He was a nautical family member to many people and he will be greatly missed.  May God bless him.
