Robert - this is because Chrome has changed - as the site does not use https: it is reported as Not Secure - but is just as secure as it has ever been.

Has anyone with Malwarebytes been getting new messages/warnings in the last few days?

Hi
So far no problems, but when I enter the Maritime Connector + ship.
I'll get the message: cdn2.shipspotting.com. I continue on and nothing happens.

Had this for months

Windows 7 with Chrome and Norton AV

Also not secure using Firefox & IE

When I add any text the "Not Secure" in the site address now turns red. Things appear to be getting worse!

Regards

Bob

"Had this for months" refers to the "Not Secure" in the site address

Hi all,

As mentioned here a few pages back, the "not secure" banners in your browser only mean that this website is not using the https protocol. The technical team is working on this, but since it is a pretty big operation this may take some time. The banner "not secure" is therefor not really a problem or safety problem with the website as such, only that traffic between your computer and the shipspotting.com server is not encrypted. This is not a major issue since no financial or confidential information is exchanged here.

I hope this makes things clearer for everyone.

Kind regards
Cedric

Just to add even Australian Government websites such as the Australian Navy website show NOT SECURE as well so its not only shipspotting.

Malwarebytes "barred" me from the site. After getting the "all clear" from Henrik I excluded it and no more problems. Browser is "Opera" Total AV anti-Virus and Firewall which has no reaction to the site.

Regrettably, the site hosts malware:

http: //shipspotting. com/smf1/ include/ Install. exe

VirusTotal gives this report: https://www.virustotal.com/#/url/8e2e44e9548bc6ea3a80731d4b2ad55909c66338c23d48a5190dc7db3e34fbf9/detection

I reported this problem to the site owners several weeks ago, without getting a reply.

Strange, my Trend Micro Maximum Security has no problems with the site and the Virustotal "hits" are actually specialist/ well known legit sites detecting malware themselves. VirusTotal is detecting the good guys.
Quote from VirusTotal themselves ."VirusTotal acts simply as an information aggregator, presenting antivirus results, file characterization tool outputs, URL scanning engine results, etc. VirusTotal is not responsible for false positives generated by any of the resources it uses."
So VirusTotal just passes on false positives ... brilliant!

Henrik advised of this, and I await his advice.

Have reports that malwarebytes is blocking site again, but only for some subscribers.  I am in touch with Henrik, but grateful if anyone has seen anything new in their experience over last few days to advise here or to webmaster@shipspotting.com

I have sent four emails, through the contact page, asking how I can totally delete my account and I've never had a reply. Perhaps I just delete all my photographs and never log in again?

Incidentally, several sites are showing as 'not secure' because they are still using http: on their website address and not the secure https: This is just another way servers are trying to obtain more money from people who create websites I am told.
