Ships radar antenna - Kiel Canal

Hi,
Does anyone knows if there is any reason to ships turn off the radar antenna when they are in the locks of Kiel Canal?
I see on the page of Kiel Canal  that, when the ships are in the locks (Kiel and Brunsb

Usually that is often required in locks as the radars are often in the same height as the traffic control towers and as radars emitting electronic pulses the people working in those towers could become affected by it. Panama Canal has the same and as far as I know the locks in Antwerp too and most probably a lot more. 
NOW!!!,,,if we could get rid of the sailors,,how safe shipping would be !!!!!!!!

Radars are of little/no use in canals and locks anyway.
