Need help identifying
« on: February 05, 2018, 07:39:33 AM »
Good Day
I am trying to identify this bulk carrier that paid a visit to Arichat, NS Canada in late 70's early 80's time frame.(Sorry for low quality)She stopped in for a load of fish meal. I seam to remember it may have been named  SANTA MARIA or something similar. The flag in the photo looks like the flag of Denmark. Any help identifying and some info would be fantastic. Thank you all for your time!!!

Looks like a Nordsovaerftet- built 700 tonner. Many to choose from, but I can't see anything like SANTA MARIA.

A shot in the dark, but could the name be OCEAN TRADER?

It is very possible it could be Phil. It certainly looks like her.
Thank you for your reply and info! Much appreciated.

Hi,
On the OCEAN TRADER photo proposed by Phil, the name is written small on the hull.
On your photo, the letters are very large.
Also, the unknown ship has a poop (coded H13 or H3), so that reduces the Nordsovaerftet built candidates.
Regards,
Yvon

Hi Yvon I am going to scan at better resolution if I can. I took a magnifying glass and I am pretty sure it is OCEAN TRADER. It is so close to being readable as right!!Thank you Yvon.

Out of those which Yvon has identified, only ARIES TRIGON or SARAH TRIGON look anything like the name written on the bow of the mystery ship. In fact, I'll stick my neck out and say SARAH TRIGON..
