A very historic occasion that's for sure and an end to an era but I wonder what will happen to her once she is finally withdrawn from service and if she will be offered for sale or just sent to the breakers as their is limited need for such a vessel on the open market such as the RMS St Helena especially considering her age.

The end of an era indeed, the last real RMS and the last British liner.
I note she is flying her paying off pennant. Doesn't seem so long ago since I watched her being built in Aberdeen.

Excellent video of the final sailing departure from St Helena of a Royal Mail ship it's a very important chapter in the history of both the Island of St Helena and of the course the vessel itself.

Although there is now the air link from the mainland to the island of St Helena heavy freight and fuel will still need to be transported to the island by ship as a new quay was built as part of the development of the airport but I wonder how frequently these will be.
