Golden Bay Cements Aotearoa Chief is not keeping up with the demand for cement around the country. The bulk cement carrier "Glory River" IMO 9373606 is due in Auckland on 28 October via Wellington to discharge bulk cement at the Bledisloe Wharf Terminal. The vessel is at present in Vietnam, so I presume this will be Vietnamese cement.

Capitaine Wallis IMO 9167447, ex Southern Pearl is to join the PDL/Neptune Shipping schedule between Auckland/Tauranga and Fiji. This will bring it to a 3 ship operation along with Capitaine Cook and Capitaine Dampier.
Capitaine Tasman IMO 9354533 is due to replace Capitaine Cook later in the year. She has been anchored off Rotterdam for several months now.

With their service realignment to the West Coast USA, Hamburg-sud will no longer be calling direct at Suva but will offer service on the Neptune Pacific vessels Capitaine Cook and Capitaine Dampier, the extra cargo perhaps why the Capitaine Wallis is added. The Seaspan Hamburg is also joining the USA service for Hapag-Lloyd, which sees the Balao and BSL Limassol now removed from the schedule as is Cap Pasado, replaced by Melina swapping services.
On Maersks Southern Star Asia service, The remaining 4,500TEU "L" Maersks will be replaced by the 5,900 TEU sisters Rio de la Plata from December, then Rio Madeira, Rio Negro and finally Rio Bravo in mid Januray, joining the previously mentioned Rio de Janeiro.

I hear that Maersk  are making a few changes ref NZ and Australia. In future all NZ services will be run and controlled from Sydney. Also the Nthn and Sthn Star services will be "rationalized".

Anyone heard this, and just what will it mean.

Morning Mike, after initially blanking Northern Star sailings for about 8 weeks from July, it was extended to the end of the year and now Maersk have decided there will be just the one loop based on the Southern Star string to which Napier was added. Auckland was one that will now miss out, along with Wellington and Nelson, while Timaru has become part of the USA OC1 service - the Maersk / Port Tauranga / Kotahi being the saviour for that  port.So now Southern STar is being re-tonnaged from the 3,800 TEU "L" Maersk's (although they probably rated now to over 4,000 TEU) to the 16 meter longer and 8 meter wider Hamburg-Sud Rio's of 5,900 TEU. Maersk will check again when the export season gets underway if these are sufficient enough. Currently the service is calling Napier first as the draft on the bigger ships is not as significant for the Napier call as it is after having taken on a big dairy cargo at Tauranga and calls afterwards, but this will change back in a few weeks. Also the OC1 service will now call Auckland before Tauranga on the northbound leg to USA, and I think will be th eonly Maersks ervice calling Auckland.
Cheers
Brent

Capitaine Wallis will work at Fergusson Container Terminal as she is on charter to Pacifica Shipping to assist Spirit of Canterbury with a backlog of coastal cargo.
She will start her Fiji schedule on 22 November.

Yes the reason for that Stephen is that Pacifica have lost one complete voyage and look like losing a second due to delays at Ferguson. The place is a complete shambles due to automation installation hindering work and staff burnout due to excessive hours. Not short fix in sight.

I see the Lica Maersk is sitting out in the anchorage at Auckland. Arrived there the 3rd and not berthing until the 10th with no destinations showing.  All a bit strange. Brent/Stephen, you guys heard anything. Long time for a big ship like that to sit around.
