Mekhanik Yartsev
« on: December 26, 2017, 03:39:38 PM »
Mekhanik Yartsev (Riga for Warrenport), currently at Bravo Anchorage in the Solent with SD Independent which accompanied her from St. Helens and the Sandown lifeboat RNLI 16.17 circling her.

I assume either a medical emergency but would have expected a heli job, or shifted cargo.  Anyone with a radio that can give any further information ?

Isle of Wight Webcams - Island Life have a webcam zoomed in at present describing the event as a "sinking cargo ship". There's poor vis but there appears to be a list.

She is now in the former King George V graving dock in Southampton having been towed by the tug Wyestorm and accompanied by law enforcement and RNLI vessels.

I suspect that the tug is Wyestorm - and the dock is King George V.

The WYESTORM was indeed on the bow, but did not seem to be pulling, exhaust was coming from the Mekhanik funnel which probably means she was under her own power. Note the tug on the stern was WYEFORCE.
