I was 3-4 times in the Durban port in 2000-01, with wind and swell it is really not easy to get into that port. The anchorage is not good holding ground, so one must leave the anchorage when the weather get rough. I wonder somewhat that a big ship like that still made the attempt in that eather condition to enter the port !!!!
NOW!!!,,,if we could get rid of the sailors,,how safe shipping would be !!!!!!!!

 the ship in fact was not entering port she broke from her moorings berth 108 - the storms in and around durban were the worst in years - there were five ships in port that broke from their moorings - and i was in direct contact with a tug boat crew member through out the time

the msc ines broke from her moorings at 108 berth and blocked the harbour - she was finally freed tuesday night
