Chinese help needed!
« on: July 30, 2015, 12:45:35 AM »
Can any members assist with names of vessels in Chinese?  It would be a pity to lose some interesting images because we cannot make out the name.

For example, two interesting photos of a 500t floating derrick and two hopper barges engaged on CCCC's contract in the port of Oran, Algeria:
http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=2090930
http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=2090931

All three vessels begin 三航, which does seem to translate as SAMHANG, and which begins many CCCC vessels' names, but an not at all sure on the third character of either the crane or the hoppers.  CCCC do have a vessel SANHANG ZHUANG 11, which would it seems be 三航庄11, but that doesn't appear to match the photo.

So, who can help?  Or know someone else who can?

David

Hi David,

I had a friend of mine take a look at the photo, and he read the name of the leftmost vessel as SAN HANG PAO 4. There does seem to be a "stone carrier" by that name, IMO 8603676, along with a SAN HANG PAO 3, IMO 8858295, which last show on AIS at Oran a year ago and 8 days ago, respectively.

Kind Regards,
Kyle

Thanks very much, Kyle. I've made the changes for the one with the hoppers.

Frans, thanks to you too - I wondered about that, but the number is very clearly "11" rather than "15". This one perhaps not self-propelled.  But your suggestion got me looking again and now I found the "faintest trace" of SAN HANG QI 11 in the ITU's list of ship stations as SANHANGQI11, with MMSI 412043790 and 1482gt, but no other details. I'm going to settle for that!

Thanks very much for that.

If anyone can have a go at the others, please just add details in their photo comments.
