Thank you David.
I've commented (twice) on my stolen photo. I've also sent a separate email to Shipping Explorer asking they remove my photo(s) from their site. Thanks again for the heads up.
Brgds

I have noticed that the account has been "suspended for photo theft"

Hi all,
just a coincidence ?!?
Since some days two users upload on vesseltracker.com hundreds of photos:
jerem80 and zack80
The photos they upload can be found by various different posters on marinetraffic, vesselfinder and also here on our website.
I did ask both if they have the right to post all these photos on vesseltracker.com - one of them did not reply at all, from the other guy I got a rather aggressive reply.
Have contacted vesseltracker.com on Sunday showing links to the photos on other web pages but still see new photos by these guys.
Maybe the admins there need some more input.

Best regards,
Malte
Perhaps the thefts have been moved from ShippingExplorer to Vesseltracker under those two accounts? Shelby80, zack80, jerem80 they all have the number 80 on their nicks. I also reported those two to Vesseltracker and also via their news provider Tim S. who told me he had forwarded my complaint to the administration. Let's hope the best.

Following the forum intervention of Clyde and Andrey, and a direct message to ShippingExplorer Admin, they have now fully closed the account of Shelby80
http://www.shippingexplorer.net/en/user/shelby80/52996/photos/ships?p=1
see also http://www.shippingexplorer.net/en/forum/thread/copyright-abuse-2/409 I don't know how long that will remain visible)

We will have to remain vigilant.  I would think that we have greater chance of a successful outcome with specialist enthusiast sites than with global monoliths like Facebook/Instagram, though we will give that also our best shot.

@Pekka - Thanks for your initiative.  I assume that you will let us know of any developments from Vesseltracker.  You can also contact me at [email protected] .

David.

Thought I would provide this brief follow up above subject.....
Earlier this morning I logged on to Shipping Explorer web site to see if indeed my photo of BALTIC WASP was removed  (On Feb. 3rd I emailed Shipping Explorer asking them to do so). I entered ship name in search panel on their home page and my photo appeared. When I clicked on the search button in the upper portion of photo itself a panel appeared with "Shelby80" and the 2 comments I posted on February 2. When I clicked on "Shelby80" a panel appeared with message "An error occurred while loading content". Although it appears they've shut down this particular account, my photo remains on their site. I emailed Shipping Explorer again, asking this time to either extend the courtesy of providing proper acknowledgment of the photo or remove it. Shipping Explorer have yet to reply to my Feb 3rd email. Nor do I anticipate a reply from my most recent communication.

Thanks andrecas.

Alex at ShippingExplorer said that they did not yet have a tool for bulk deletions and they would have to write one.

I have added a further message to the ShippingExplorer forum:
http://www.shippingexplorer.net/en/forum/thread/copyright-abuse-2/409

We will have to keep an eye on this!

I think that we have a good understanding with ShippingExplorer - hopefully they will not attract similar members again (this was the first that they have been aware of).

@Matte/Pekka - any developments on Vesseltracker yet?

I don't think much will happen there. Besides the "theft80's" I sent them an e-mail about a member who uploaded 5 times the same photo of the Triple-E Lego model box (can you imagine, five times!) but so far no response from their team.

Regarding the messages from Malte Classen and Pekka Lakkso about the copyright violation from @zack80 and friends.
I have checked more than 50 photos today from both accounts and found all photos stolen from Marinetraffic and Shipspotting.
I also informed VT.Some years ago I had the problem with one uploader who took abot 10 of my photos. After I send the several mail to their standard-mail-adress I contacted the headoffice
Carsten Bullemer, Martin Leuschner and Ralf Paahsen

[email protected]
[email protected]

I have set them a deadline of 3 days to remove the photos or the account, if no reaction I would forward it to a lawyer, and they have reacted.
In this case I have not found any of my photos but still searching.
