Belgium trawler capsizes off Kent
« on: December 28, 2016, 05:42:34 PM »
A beam trawler from Belgium is reported to have capsized last night off the English coast north-west of Ramsgate.

The Assanat Z-582 is reported to have capsized last night. One of the three crew was rescued by a British search and rescue helicopter that plucked the crewman from the hull of the upturned trawler. A second crewman is reported to have been found and taken to hospital in a critical condition while the third crewman is not yet accounted for

On my photo database of her I have the following :

rescued by Harwich lifeboat, Albert Brown on 06:02:2015 after suffering engine failure when 30 miles East of Harwich.  Eventually towed into port after tow line broke 3 times in Force 9 gales.

so not the first time she has been in trouble

The Belgian survivor managed to stay on the overturned hull for eleven hours overnight, until his rescue at first light.  His lower torso and legs completely blue and managing to warm his hands with his urine.  But his two crew-mates lost.  He said the fishing boat capsized suddenly and in just a few seconds.
