Goodafternoon all

At the moment i'm do some research for a trip shanghai or Hong-kong (end october / begin november).
do you guys have some exprience in  1 or either both of the city's.

im especially curious about how close you can het to the vessels and about the weather. ( i saw on various pictures that Hong-kong consists less haze than shanghai) on the other hand in shanghai i believe you can get much closer views.

is it also worth consolidering Singapore ?

please let me know if you have some tips or advice

best Regards.
Matthijs

Hi Matthijs,

Shanghai and Hong Kong can not be mentioned as the ship spotting locations in the same sentence, IMHO.
Shanghai port is off limits - assuming you will be coming as a tourist, not as an officer on board the ship - and that is before we even mention the haze.
Shanghai will offer closer looks at the vessels on the Huangpu river, and its skyline is fantastic (although not as good as Hong Kong's), but it will mostly be smaller Chinese vessels.
As for Hong Kong, there was a query not so long ago about ship spotting locations at Hong Kong here on this forum, so look it up.

Cheers

Hi Matthijs,

There's some info on shipspotting in Hong Kong here:

http://forum.shipspotting.com/index.php/topic,14386.msg76786.html#msg76786

Anyway, I am going there this weekend, so I'll see if I can add something.

Cheers
