What is this?
« on: August 14, 2016, 10:57:13 AM »
Hello Forum,

Could someone tell me what this is, what it does? It was seen on the deck of a bunkering vessel.

Have cropped photo, so hopefully won't be too large !

Regards

Hi,

this is an electronic ullage meter. It measures the height between the tanktop end the level of the liquid e.g. oil.
Before you had to open a little hatch like this and measure with an ullage tape. Later there were electronic ullage meters which could be read in the control room. This is some makeshift replacement which can be read in situ. You can still see the electric connection on the right of the original measuring device.
