advert

Whilst accepting that adverts on screen a necessary to fund the site, that 'rollover' advert for the insurance company is really pissing me off, if my cursor just touches it the rest of the screen blanks over and is filled with the advert.   Surely you should have to positively click on an advert for it to take over.

I couldn't agree with you more, Allan
It was exactly that AXA ad that finally pushed me into using an ad-blocker (I had suffered from a different one before - Scottish Widows, I think - but it went away before I got round to doing anything about it).

I cannot remember the name of the ad-agency theat this site uses, butit is not Google-ads.

Interestingly - if I read it correctly - GoogleAds no longer allows such roll-over ads "Mouseovers or rollovers won't trigger the ad", precisely because users find them disruptive.

Or you can do what I do and pay $5.00 a month, and have no ads at all.

I use Adblock plus. It works pretty well. It's an add-on. My primary browser is Chrome. So I found it in the chrome store. It's free.

Adblock Plus does not stop all ads. It has a whitelist .. ie ads that conform to a wide ranging list of Adblock Plus criteria are allowed through. (acceptable ads https://adblockplus.org/en/acceptable-ads ).
