Really a nice collection of extraordinary names so far.

"Woolloomooloo" is one of my favourites, as well as "Catch 22": http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=1840148
and also "London 2012": http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/search.php?query=LONDON+2012&x=22&y=14

On the other hand, I also like lyrical names like "Lowlands Sunrise" : http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=2339879

Cheers, David

Just remembered these 2 same looking heavylifters:
LIFT-ON - http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=1767700
LIFT-OFF - http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=1813523

And of course, BigLift's ships with names that make no sense:
HAPPY DYNAMIC
HAPPY RIVER
HAPPY DELTA
HAPPY STAR
HAPPY DIAMOND
HAPPY SKY

Oh & just came across a happy tanker called HAPPY FELLOW.

Also a couple of old hits ---LOVE ME TENDER  and  PLEASE PLEASE ME.

The Monkees demand their recognition, too!

Interesting to see reference to METALLICA above.

The Greek owner's son was into heavy metal music, so a number of ships in the fleet were named after metal bands.

At least, that's how the story goes!

Yes it's true. This is the Vafias family, principals of Brave Maritime and Stealth Maritime. Other vessels included "Heavy Metal" and "Nirvana"

The old Maassluis-Rozenburg ferries DE HOORN and SCHILDTHUIS raised a snigger or two among English-speaking spotters in the late 1960s

This one is also a strange one:

http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/search.php?query=FORWARD+BRIDGE&x=16&y=10
with the bridge place on the rear end.

In Dutch the Beffen (http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=1044053)
is a funny one as this means pussy licking :)

Then you have asol cheap ships: for 4 euro

I met a bulk carrier, the Irene's Ambition in Venesuala in 1974  You can imagine the cracks on board the ship I was on.
