U.K. Daily mail reports that the SS United States is to be saved and the official announcement will come feb4
Hope.  the story is correct.

If it was reported only by the Daily Mail, I would take it with a pinch of salt. There was no word of it in The Times (the top people's paper!!)

Keep posting your great oldies I really enjoy them.
We shall just have to wait till Feb 4 to find out.
It cost them $60,000 a month to park in Philly ,
Some thing should be done one way or another.

The Daily Mail , online has some excellent photos of the United States in today's edition and confirms that Chrystal Cruises will do a "feasibility study"
To see if she can be brought up to today's standards , they figure $800 mill, and could be sailing in 2018.

Wow that's going to one very expensive refurbishment.The ship would have to be cut in half in two places to remove the old boilers and engines,as well as surveying ,repairing and decontamination of a 60 year old hull before any refurbishment can start.
