It was reported in October that the Chenan would be going for scrap in January, following her sister Chengtu. However she is due in Auckland and spending a day at the container terminal for "Provisional move for Fergusson Wharf planning". I am wondering if Swire are going to add her to the coastal container trade due to the earthquakes and the shutting down of the rail and road infrastructure in the South Island. Anyone have an insight on this?
Chenan sailed from Newcastle direct to Lyttelton arriving 26 November berthing at Cashin Quay. She loaded a deck cargo of containers helping out the SOC and sailed 27 November for Auckland. Arriving in the early hours of 30 November, she berthed at Fergusson and discharged, before moving to Bledisloe at 0730 to take up her normal schedule. (For last time as it turns out).

Regards,
David

Kota Loceng IMO 9628336 is to be renamed Kota APL at Singapore. This is to mark the addition of APL Shipping into the NZS service.

Swire Shipping are transferring the Ngankin (IMO 9105994) from the South East Asia schedule to the Trans Tasman schedule. The Chenan (IMO 9007374) is no longer going for scrap but is being transferred to the South East Asia schedule. The Chenan will however do one more Trans Tasman sailing.

Seatrade are introducing a new service utilising container vessels instead of reefers. The new service will depart Europe to Tahiti and Noumea, before heading to load in Nelson, Napier and Tauranga. They will then sail to two ports in Peru, and then on to Philadelphia and UK/Europe. The first southbound vessel is Magellan Strait (IMO 9267534). The northbound sailing will be taken by a 2016 new build named "Seatrade Blue". The next vessels are Catharina Schulte (IMO 9302956) and Melchior Schulte (IMO 9676723). The last vessel is another newbuild named "Seatrade Red".

Seatrade White is on her way to Napier and due mid January - presumably to do an empty dump in preparation for the apple season

The "Seatrade White" is in Auckland at present discharging new 40ft empty reefers. This seems unusual when the loading ports for the new Seatrade Meridian service are Nelson, Napier and Tauranga.
