Progress report on the site
« on: July 07, 2015, 06:37:54 AM »
Hi Everyone,

We have been busy over last few days making changes and finding new people for the admin team.

To ensure democracy on the site and place Webmasters in geographically advantageous positions, the following changes were made. There will be four Webmasters on the site and three will have to agree before any policy change can take place. Two new Webmasters have been appointed.Cody Williams (Australia time zone) and Kyle Stubbs (North America time zone)

We are still looking for New Photo Admins.

Two Information correction Editors have been appointed, they will not be reviewing photos.

Wade Armstrong will be specialising in Military Ships.

David Aspery will have a more general role.

We welcome the four of them in their new roles.

We are still looking for more Correction editors and we need some Forum Moderators too.

Anyone interested please make yourself known to One of the four Webmasters (Myself, Derek Lilley, Cody Williams or Kyle Stubbs).

Very good news. A good idea to have four webmasters and in different time zones and the three out of rule is good too.

Keep going, gentlemen. This has my full support :)

Cheers,
Jens

Thank you Derek for telling us you are giving priority to democracy in the running of the site.

I expect that will make it more likely that you will get members to offer their services as Photo Admins, Correction Editors and Forum Moderators.  And thus spread the Admin work around.

It will be marvelous if all Admins adopt your approach of seeing themselves as servants of the members, with the pride and status that deserves to accompany their title.

Excellent - I'm impressed! We just need a someone to look after the video stack, and perhaps 5 or six categories in the videos themselves!

@ DEREK:

This morning I almost would have applied to become a volunteer correction
editor, having the right background and a keen interest in keeping up/improving
the high quality and standards of this website.

However, if your site cannot even handle some well deserved criticism and
practice censorship by rudely deleting my post on this forum, I probably could
not have been a member of your team.

Pity....

@Dirk
I am seriously wondering why you should make a post like this on the public forum. There is always the private message option which could be used to clarify things in a much more productive way. (And yes I have volunteered to become a correction editor)

Hi Dirk,

Its not my site it belongs to the members who contribute the photos really.
We are not perfect in the admin team but we do freely give our time to try and keep the site in order. I am always interested to hear from prospective admins and we have recently expanded the team. At present we must settle these in before we consider any more.

I still have no idea what this forum post you are referring to said as I never saw it and certainly did not delete it. As for "well deserved criticism", I guess at present the buck stops with the Webmasters who are heading the team. However as volunteers we do not have to sit back and take all the flack that members wish to sling as we have always the option of retiring and letting perhaps yourself run the site.

best regards
Derek
