Courtesy flags/navigation charts & sundry items.

When vessels go to the breakers, what happens to their courtesy flags? Are they retained by the owner for use on another vessel? Same question for navigational charts.

Regards,

Warships are thoroughly 'stripped' as part of the disposal process. Very little is left for us (the crew) as 'souvenirs'. - Tom

Prior to going to the breakers yard all equipment, sundries and just about anything movable is taken off the vessel and sold. There are specialist firms who will buy and re-sale or auction items and larger pieces may be sold direct to well-known shipping suppliers. Items in good condition may be taken into company stores for re-allocation to other vessels.

Best wishes.
