Can someone explain the usefulness of the 'Captchasol' in reporting errors.  I have just reported a mis-spelling of Isaac Newton and my whole message was deleted because the Captcha was so indistinct that I misread it.   Instead of giving me a second chance it deleted my post.   It is a stupid bloody waste of time and effort and I can see absolutely NO reason for having to use it.  I shall certainly not be using it in future.

So you reported a simple mis-spelling and the message got deleted. Did you add Isaac Newton's biography to the error report or what's this fuss all about?

Apart from Denis' excellent suggestion you could also click on the speaker-symbol to the right of the captcha and have an audible captcha...

Allan, I hope this will make you feel better - some days ago I spent an hour at night sending correct/missing IMOs via that link just to find out soon that those IMOs weren't added to all those photos because all my messages, as it turns out, instead of arriving in Ken's inbox, went somewhere else!  I'm sure I was using that special error report link above the comment field...

Why should you have to copy the message?  Surely simply reporting an error should be sufficient without having to play the stupid recognition game.

Captcha is being read by automated systems as reported by Google .."However, our research recently showed that today’s artificial intelligence technology can solve even the most difficult variant of distorted text at 99.8 per cent accuracy. Thus distorted text, on its own, is no longer a dependable test. Examples of options to defeat automated systems include Google's own No CAPTCHA reCAPTCHA and SWEET CAPTCHA (http://sweetcaptcha.com/) and they are mobile friendly.

Cheers Brian, glad it's not just me.  I'll not bother again.
