Tracking Fairmount Alpine
« on: November 26, 2014, 09:58:16 AM »
Hello to all readers
I am building a model of Fairmount Alpine so I keep a track just in case it comes near Aberdeen ,no luck yet but it is getting closer. I have tracked her from South Africa and is know coming round  Breast peninsular heading for Rotterdam .
My question is why is she only doing 5 to 6 knots and has been since leaving South Africa does any one know is there is a tow  as nothing is showing up on AIS
Thanks David

Showing as "restricted manoeuvrability" on AIS so, yes, with tow.  Don't know what, though.

Hello Dan
Ihave not built from GA plans ,Fairmount is a bit of a challenge Billings as you might know only supply a build book ,no method and the detail is sometimes not very good .
I would not say I was a keen photograph but I have a large amount of hard copies and digital shot of ships and European Bargess  mostly taken in the English Chanel when we go sailing out of Southampton. All the barges were taken when we took a motor cruiser from Teddigton to Luxemburge over a period of 3 years . If we had a good reliable broadband I would try and post pictures but it takes to long to down load . Do you know about Model Mayhem .
Thanks for the reply .
David ,still building Fairmount Alpine .

Well that answers my question, I see from the vidio clip it is Alseas , I wonder if Iron Lady is going to work with Pieter Schelde that is on its way to Rotterdam as well  it will not transit Suze as it is to wide ,last time I looked she was doing more than 5.5 knots . Thank you all for the input
David
