More news and a picture here:

http://www.marine.nl/nieuws/
(Press "Brandend containerschip in de Golf Van Aden" for a bigger picture)

I also got some better pictures by e-mail, which show that the fire has engulfed the whole aft ship aft of the acommodation.

Let's hope they can save her.

Best regards

Although its a small picture you can see that extensive damage has been caused to the ship and containers on board.
These situations although rare are always serious due to the amount hazardous cargo container ships carry.

Mats, are you able to post your other pictures for all to see?

Those are the same pictures I had, but I didn't feel comfortable posting them since they're not my copyright.

The same pictures have now also been posted by leading shipping newspaper Tradewinds (www.tradewinds.no).

Judging from the pictures, it could turn into a worse and more costly disaster than "Hanjin Pennsylvania".

I guess after the Hanjin Pennsylvania never right a ship off after a fire!

Just out of curiosity what is she now?

Shocking fire though, glad nobody was hurt or killed.  Hopefuly the ship can be salvaged.

Ref the previous post & the pictures on the CARGOLAW page  -
The initial explosion must have been massive  -  there is a battered container on top of the funnel.

Cheers
