London Gateway To Get An " E Class "
« on: October 17, 2014, 02:35:44 PM »
Maersk E Class - Edith Maersk is due to call at London Gateway on 19.10.14 after departing from Felixstowe.

Maersk Jubail also ex Felixstowe is due to call at London Gateway on 18.10.14.

One wonders if they are calling to collect empties.

London Gateway website shipping information area shows:

Maersk Jubail: Arriving 18.10.14. 0001 hrs.  Departing 18.10.14. 2200 hrs
Edith Maersk:  Arriving 19.10.14. 0600 hrs.  Departing 19.10.14. 2200 hrs

Wonderful photographic opportunities at those times (and indeed with many of the arrivals/departures at London Gateway !)

It is certainly one of the least photographer friendly ports both in terms of accessibility and arrival/departure times. Unless you're on the press's list of course ;)

Just so you know what she looks like, there's now a 5 minute video of Edith on this site's video page - filmed this very (Friday) afternoon!

She is to load 1200 empties and to test the Gateways ability to load 24+ boxes per hour per crane.

There's now a new video online on this site's video page, filmed this morning from the quayside at London Gateway with Edith Maersk working cargo alongside. The report includes an interview with Colin Hitchcock, London Gateway's Harbour Master, and there will be more coverage soon including a chat with the ship's master, Captain Regin Hansen.

Hope you find it interesting.

Fun to do, Alan!

There's an additional new clip now on the video page, which includes meeting Captain Regin Hansen on his bridge - 56 metres from wing tip to wing tip!
