AIRCRAFT CARRIER ID
« on: October 10, 2014, 12:18:17 PM »
Hi

As a kid living in Hong Kong this aircraft carrier visited but my parents memories of it are vague and appear incorrect. They thought it was a US aircraft carrier on RR from the Vietnam war visiting sometime between April and June 1970 and was the USS Eagle. Online I  can't find a USS Eagle aircraft carrier. I can find an HMS Eagle aircraft carrier but photos of it look different to the photo I have. The ship in my photo has a drooping flag which could be the Stars and Stripes and the aircraft appear to be Phantoms. Any help identifying the ship would be much appreciated.

Thanks Jan

Thanks for the information, by a process of elimination I think it might be a Midway Class aircraft carrier, possibly the USS Coral Sea. I'll do more checking.
