Columbus New Zealand
« on: March 01, 2006, 03:14:47 PM »
According to Equasis the Columbus New Zealand (now Maersk Duffield) was to have been named P&O Nedlloyd Resolution on completion.

Other sources suggest this didn't actually happen.

Does anyone know if she did actually receive the name P&O Nedlloyd Resolution?

I realise Equasis isn't 100% reliable when it comes to former names - many spelling mistakes are left in when the LRFairplay database is amended - but it does throw up some interesting bits of information.

Many thanks,

Steve.

Hi Steve,

I think she was launched as PONL Resolution but renamed to CNZ before delivery. At least she had had P&O Nedlloyd text on sides, as I saw it overpainted on the hull when I saw the CNZ in 2003.

Hope this helps a bit.

An another question: Does someone already have photographed her as Maersk Duffield? I

Her original 'owners' name is SANTA ROSANNA, which is a traditional C.P. Offen name. The intended charter name was P&O Nedlloyd Resolution and there is evidence that she was launched with this name.

AFAIK, the name Columbus New Zealand came about due to line sharing arrangements with Hamburg Sud. Now that Maersk are in charge, it's all change again!
