Rickmers Hamburg is 'following' Atlantic Salvor
« on: February 06, 2014, 10:14:32 PM »
Atlantic Salvor (MMSI: 366744010)  is heading into Boston Massachuestts.

Rickmers Hamburg (MMSI: 538090091) is following Atlantic Salvor.

I find it interesting that RH is following AS at a constant speed
and distance (0.4 nm).

Escort, tow or mere coincidence?

The tugs Freedom, Justice and Vincent D. Tibbets Jr. have joined Rickmers Hamburg east of The Graves.  They're heading into Boston via the North Channel.

Does anybody know why Rickmers Hamburg was towed in to port and is now sitting at a cruise line pier rather than at a freight wharf?

Rickmers Hamburg left Boston Harbor this morning.

Still no idea what was broken on RH that left her
tied up in Boston for a month and a half.

HI GARY
Major stuff such times,,however not really has to. Nowadays also major ships spares are not readily available, for example gears are often made when needed. I waited in 2009 2 weeks for one gear in Port Manatee. Crankshafts however  take easy 2-4 weeks to make and then ship etc
Takes it time nowadays
NOW!!!,,,if we could get rid of the sailors,,how safe shipping would be !!!!!!!!

Rickmers Hamburg arrived off Halifax March 25 and anchored. Today, March 26, she is jogging back and forth during a severe storm, with waves over 20 feet and winds exceeding 60 miles per hour. She will have a very rough night of it.
