RC Ben-My-Chree 6
« on: January 29, 2014, 11:17:23 PM »
Hi,

I was wondering if there was anyone out there/any sites/companies people know of that could build me a reasonable size Remote Controlled fully working Ben-My-Chree (6) of the Isle Of Man Steam Packet Company. I'd like her as she is now and in the present Steam Packet Livery. A working stern ramp would also be a huge bonus.

I'm not exactly sure about the price of these models, though I would of course be more than willing to pay a fair price.

I've always wanted a model Packet Boat and was really motivated when I seen this video (http://youtu.be/qX-xhlyFp9w) on youtube. Owning a model like that would be a dream come true to be honest.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi,

IF, big if, it is possible to obtain a set of drawings there are people who would build one for you of course, but expect to pay between 10K and 20k at least for a working example depending on size and complexity.

Otherwise you could try http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php

Regards,

Jon.

Morning,

The only RoRo kits that I have seen are from a well known UK company called Deans Marine.

http://www.deansmarine.co.uk/shop/index.php/cPath/10_20

Depends if you want an exact replica of your named vessel or just a RoRo model.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm awaiting admin approval to join model boat mayhem, thanks for the link to that. I'm a bit worried about the prices you're quoting, a little over budget  ;D.

Thanks for the link to Deans Marine, I've contacted them also about a possible Ben-My-Chree kit for the future, I would like her as close to the real Ben as possible. A generic Ro-Ro wouldn't appeal to me.

Thanks again.
