An article from today's Erie Times-News about the BUCKEYE and JOSEPH H. THOMPSON JR. being moved into Erie Shipbuilding's drydock can be found here: http://www.goerie.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060222/NEWS02/602220331

The move took place after dark on Monday.

I did, however, see the THOMPSON JR. moved into drydock. I'll upload photos to this site in the next day or so.

Will you keep photographing the conversion of the Buckeye? I've been interested in how they are converted.

Yes, I will keep photographing her. Probably two or three times a week now that she's in drydock, since the fun work really begins now.

Latest word is that OLIVE L. MOORE will receive a raised pilothouse and the pilothouse on the BUCKEYE will be chopped off.

I especially want to see her before and after they take pilothouse off the BUCKEYE. If you look through the first few pages of my album, in fact, there are already some photos of her conversion. There are also about 25 of the BUCKEYE being towed into Erie.

wont she be a little top heavy? Also, will they be keeping some of the rooms on the Buckeye. It doesnt look like the Moore's got much space in her, well by look at the lack of portholes. I hate to say it but I cant wait to see what they'll look like together, even though it's sad to see a classic chopped up. I'm going to Duluth sunday and get as many photos of the Reserve as possible, I'll send you the link when I upload them.

I doubt she'll be top-heavy; the new pilothouse is going to be tall and narrow, rather than tall and wide. Moore has, to the best of my knowledge, accomodations for all of the crew she'll need, since she's only going to need 11 men to push the Buckeye.

I saw the photos of the Reserve on Boatnerd this morning. Nice shots.
