Mv Ben Varrey - IMO 8507365 now sold to Absolute Shipping Ltd.

New name?

Any news on this or any further purchases?

Thanks

As per Trade winds this morning i see this:

Sad to see another small UK owner call it a day!

---------------
The Isle of Man owner has offloaded the 800-dwt Ben Maye (built 1979) and the 1,500-dwt Ben Varrey (built 1986) to UK owner Angel Shipping.

Local reports said the company announced it would cease trading after 100 years because of its 1m ($1.64m) pensions liability.

Eion Lyons, managing director of Angel, said the acquisition was "extremely good news and represents a further investment in our expanding short-sea dry cargo fleet". He added the vessels were well-maintained and operated.

Angel will continue to run the ships in the Irish Sea.

In a previous thread about the Ben Ellan, I referred you to Coastal Shipping magazine. Your many questions about coastal vessels would be answered if you read this magazine. I have just received the December edition - which answers your question.

So will this vessels be renamed under Absolutes ownership or retain old names?

At the moment, they have retained the name -

You will have to wait and see. I'm not sure why Absolute Shipping should make their commercial intentions known to all and sundry.
