Hard to find models: Oil Rigs and Container Ships

Hi guys

Anybody else notice the lack of scale models available to build for either Container Ships or Oil rigs?

I found one Oil rig, and zero Container ships.

Anybody know some good places or brands that make these to buy?

Search the Web for: Cornwall Model Boat. They have one kit, think it is Revell, of a modern container vessel of Hapag-Lloyd.

Hi Paul,

Agree there are'nt many at all for  container ships and am not aware of any oil rig models, just not very popular i guess.

However Revell produced a great model of Colombo Express a few years ago which is still readily available on ebay and have a look at the link below:

if you google it there are photos of many good examples, i have not built mine yet but it comes with decals for all the sister vessels in that class so you can chose which one you like.

Hi all,
Just arrived here.
I've been building model ships since 2002, however not using conventional materials but card/paper.
I'm not sure if you are aware of the fact that some very fine models are available in this category.
It's a different technique, but anyone able to build ship models using "hard" materials will surely suceed here also. The results obtained with card modelling may reach very high standards.
