Signed. With great respect to Anthony.L. CALYPSO was the first ship I've seen on TV when I was a child. It's a very pity to see her in this condition. Together we can save the legendary vessel.

Hello,
Here is a short summary after two weeks of petition.
As you have perhaps noticed, the petition has changed ownership for legal reasons (I am a minor). The new owner is Bruno Bombled. I am always available for suggestions, but changes on the petition will not be made by me.
Some newspapers began to take an interest in our cause. The number of signatures increased from 1000 to 2500.
On October 3, 2013 At 19 o'clock 41, 1702 people had signed the call to classify CALYPSO "French maritime heritage."

Thank you all for your support.
Together, we must save the CALYPSO.

Today more than ever, we need your help. The Commercial Court of Quimper terminated the contract between the Cousteau Society and Piriou shipyards. In four months, the CALYPSO shall have leave the shipyard. But for go wherever?

Please help us. Share and sign this call: www.change.org/SauvezlaCalypso.

If you help us, the CALYPSO could know the same end as the NOMADIC (the last ship of the White Star Line, the shipowner of the TITANIC) became a museum in Belfast.
If we do nothing, it could know the same fate as the QUEEN ELIZABETH (later SEAWISE UNIVERSITY).

Help us.

Not signed, because:

The ship itself is not any novelty or anything special shipbuilding-wise. It belonged to a very important person in research and I hope, the works of research are never forgotten. But the ship itself, is not anything special and has not ever been something special.

There are ships, that are far more worth to save than this one, worldwide.

If you want to see a really great preserved ship, which also everyone can visit and spend time onboard, go to Rotterdam and visit the SS Rotterdam, go to Hamburg and visit Cap San Diego. These are ships, which are really worth to save as worldwide importance for shipping.

Of course - just my opinion.

Thank you Cornelia for saying very much what I have been thinking.
In addition to the reasons you give, I would suggest people look up the recent history of this family and their fights over the Cousteau millions, ownership of the vessel etc.
I hear the port of La Rochelle is thinking about sinking it for use as an artificial reef.
Sounds good to me.

Yes, Kelvin, I suspect old man Jacques would thoroughly approve of the artificial reef idea.
There are many vessels much more deserving of preservation than this one
