Costa Concordia - any hi-res shots of salvaged ship??
« on: September 17, 2013, 12:41:05 PM »
Even gCaptain, so far, only has little 5x3 inch shots of the upright ship.  I'd like to see some high-res shots so I can take a closer look at the damage...  yes, I'm rubber-necking...

Hi Dan

Excellent work by all involved with this huge Engineering feat. I am especially proud of the fact that the salvage Master was Nick Sloane....a South African.

You guys all did a great job to do what many critics said was impossible  ;)

Can't wait for the high res shots when you are back on Giglio.

All the best,
tvtech

Perhaps no picture explains better than this one, why they don't plan to repair and reuse the ship  :o  :

Amazing photo!
Amazing damage to the ship!
Amazing amount of money involved in all of that!
Regards,
Denis

I agree with Dennis, and how much more money will it cost to bring her to the scrapyard?

I wonder how much of the actual hull structure has been damaged. In my eyes, it looks like just the balconies have been crushed.

Well, that's partly because all we can see is the balconies right now!!
I suspect that, at least at the two strips that most heavily crushed the side, the damage likely extends all the way to the bottom...

A little later then promised, I have added some photos today, unfortunately from the 'permitted' areas to photograph from I could not get a close up of the damage, but I will keep trying !

Those are some pretty good shots!  Hopefully you can get some from beyond the salvage equipment at some point.   :P  Maybe you can sneak in with scuba gear and wait for sunrise!!
