Nonsense.....
It is usually a chain of failures that make a ship sink or a plane crash.
In this case it may have been a certain structural weakness, influence of stowage / weight distribution of cargo and the high seas/swell - vsl being at the wrong time at the wrong spot on the ocean.

Unless it's been a freak-wave, a US nuclear submarine or whatever   Grin
