with all those 1700 boxes, some floating above, some under - this is disastrous.
Not mentioning large amount of FO, LO gone down, which will eventually start to leak out...

Initially both sections seemed stable, what could have caused the ingress of water - thru pipes?
Why do they tow bow section "aft ahead"?

Mhh, just wondering why the aft section was afloat for about 7 days on open sea and sunk after ~ 3 days in tow...any ideas?

Surely they never got a tow on the aft section. It is the fore section that is being towed, broken end first, that is causing the discussion.

Holedriller, You are correct, there are no reports they ever attached a tow line to the Aft section

It was reported that the fore end was down by the head about 3 meters. Maybe this is enough to prevent further water entering from the broken end???? :)

MOL Comfort Fore Section Breaks Free from Tow

The fore section of the vessel could sink too because of the adverse weather.  ???

This will be a nightmare, all what they can do,, spray water on it from a distance. When the fire/heat breaks /distorts the now seemingly still water tight forepart and a crack/hole developes that part runs full water too,,and that may sink the front part too.
NOW!!!,,,if we could get rid of the sailors,,how safe shipping would be !!!!!!!!

The aft part of the ship sank with 1,7000 containers onboard.
