CP Ships renamings
« on: February 07, 2006, 09:11:00 AM »
It has been advised that on the new CMA CGM-Marfret/CP Ships-Hapag-Lloyd service changes the following ships are to be renamed:
CP Dynasty to Sydney Express
CP Voyager to Canberra Express
CP Tabasco to Wellington Express
P&O Nedlloyd Yarra Valley to Callao Express
Classica to Adelaide Express
CP Eagle to Fremantle Express
CP Jabiru to Brisbane Express
CP Condor to Melbourne Express
CP Kestrel to Auckland Express
CP Tui to either Hawaiian Express or Honolulu Express
Other vessels with CP or CanMar as part of their names will lose their labels, ie: CP Rangitoto becomes Rangitoto and CP London becomes London.

Thanks to Dale Crisp in  Melbourne for this info via the Shipping Gazette. [email protected]

It appears that the CP Tui is to be renamed Perth Express.
CP Rotoiti was in Auckland the weekend of 12/13 February and changed her name to Rotoiti and had her funnel painted orange. She sailed with the scaffolding still up around the funnel so maybe another coat of paint is needed. :-)

In yet another change of heart the CP TUI is not to be renamed Perth Express as previously advertised. The name chosen as appearing on Ports of Auckland arrivals is Albert Rickmers. :-o

Also Hapag-Lloyd would later liked to have reverted CP Condor to Hansa Flensburg but her arrangements to rename to Melbourne Express was too far advanced.

I was in Auckland last Thursday at the end of a "Diamond Princess" cruise from Sydney, and the CP TUI was unloading boxes several wharves away. On the superstructure there was painted a company flag.Would this be for Rickmers?

CP Tui is indeed to be renamed Albert Rickmers. According to the latest NZ Shipping Gazette The renaming of the WCNA CP ships to Express names has been abandoned.
CP Condor is to be Hansa Flensburg
CP Jabiru is to be Hansa Rendsburg
CP Kestrel is to be Hansa Sonderburg

You have to be up early in the morning to keep up with all the changes happening in the shipping world at present

Hi all. Well more info on CP (errrr!!). MARFRET PROVENCE sailed over the horizon this morning ex Noumea next port Sydney. Probably on the RTW service [cma-cgm etc] Have not seen her for some time. EQUASIS shows she is one of.. CP TUI's sisters. A bit hazy today, definately NOT CP funnel, seemed to be black with wide navy band.
We seem to be getting an extraordinary variety of ships into Brisbane mostly on charter to the majors. They would seem to be in the 3.5 to 5 thou. TEU size, while the real biggies, (by oz standards) call SYD & MEL.

Hi Dicky,

Marfet Provence.
This is a completely differant company. Marfret are based, I think, in Marseille and they operate a joint service with CMA CGM.
They have their own funnel colours.
Although the vessel is chartered from Rickmers, like several of the CP and CMA CGM vessels, that doesn't mean that she will revert to a Rickmers name.
I think you'll find she will just keep plodding on.

It is Hapag LLoyd that seem to be going through this will we, won't we, phase regarding renaminmgs.

Dale, a very good afternoon from the Netherlands.
On one ship you are wrong. The CP London will get her original name Alexandra Rickmers back at hamburg on 22-03-06. We have the order for it to do it straight from Rickmers.
"Classica"is done by us in Rotterdam. Only she sails with het owners funnel=Gebr. Winter-Hamburg-Germany
"Callao Express"we did a couple of weeks ago at Rotterdam,
only the names, she didn't have a funnel.
