i noticed yesterday 12/8/13 looking at Tilbury on marine traffic that the ais signal for Ostende Spirit is now showing again..a quick look through the internet shows that it may be another candidate for scrapping at Aliaga.

I was just wondering if anyonme knew if this was the case or not.

I'm not sure to be honest Tony , Sorry. Quite peculiar though to see her AIS re-appear after a period in which she sent no signal.
Best Regards

I seen that she was on AIS last weekend too and was wondering if she had got work or if she is headed for the breakers.

Thanks for the replys Kyle and Damien.

Im only guessing here but i would of thought if she was bound for breakers surely it would be towed as a dead ship like the Pride of Dover was and there would no reason for her AIS to have been started up again, although im a complete novice at this and could be totally wrong.

Im hoping that she has been found work as i wasnt able to get a picture of her in her current livery and am planning to go to Gravesend for a spot of ship watching on Tuesday (so if she does move me being in the area would almost certainly guarantee that she wont move then)!!

To the best of my knowledge, OSTEND SPIRIT has not been sold as is not going anywhere soon. However, she remains for sale or charter. It's likely that the AIS equipment is being tested to ensure that it remains operational for any potential buyer or charterer.

No bother Tony but she does not need tug to carry her to the breakers as she is after all fully operational. Pride of Dover however required a tug to bring her to Aliaga as she had been left without operation for 2 years before being bought for pressumed service alongside her sister under charter by Trans Europa Ferries. This however was not true and Pride (Pride of Dover) left in chains for Aliaga escorted by Eide Fighter a week before Ostend Spirit left for Ostend and Gravesend berthing trials.

Hi,

information received my members of the Dover Ferry Photos Forum indicate that she may leave for Turkey under her own power very soon. A P&O crew is supposed to take her there under her own power.

More information can always be found on the Dover Ferry Photos Forum: http://www.doverferryphotosforums.co.uk/ (registration is required but definitely worth it!)

Kind regards
Cedric
