Jan,

Ich habe erfahren das MSC Bulker und Tanker hat aber es gibt kein MSC prefix und die Schiffe sind daher schwer zu erkennen. Wahrscheinlich sind die meisten auf timecharter genommen.
I experienced that MSC has Bulkers and Tankers but without MSC prefix so difficult to recognize. Probably most of them are on T/C

Another surprise! After the pure car carriers now we can see also bulk in the big fleet of MSC...supposed to be owned because PANAMA flag and lady name! It could be a sort of favour to some Italian shipowners which already oredered the ship and had financial problems. I will try to get more info in the company!

The common factor seems to be the low-profile Greek company Niki Shipping.

Niki owned ANASTASIA ex-MSC ANASTASIA, transferring her to MSC ownership on delivery.
As Allan noted, they control MSC MAGALI - and also her sister MSC CARINA - as well as car carrier MSC IMMACOLATA and containership MSC BERYL (and reported also MSC LAUREN is theirs) - and two more of these 12400teu ships coming from STX for MSC operations.

Not all of Niki's fleet is in the MSC basket.  They have four 5090teu ships with Ital/Evergreen.

hi all

don,t forget, a lot big container companies (CPO for example) have now bulkers too. They only had container until the crash, then a lot container contracts which they had with yards in china were converted into bulk-ship contracts. As you guys can see,,they mostly have only big bulkers,,i.e. big container contracts into big bulker contracts.
The effect is the same, after the conatiner companies managed to destroy their own market they stampeded into the bulker market and manged to destroy that section of shipping too.
Typical for todays shipping management seemingly reacting to self created downturn by doing the same again. The word "planning" does not exist anymore in the maritime vocublary, exept for passage planning,, but then,,for that managers wouldn,t be qualified anyhow
NOW!!!,,,if we could get rid of the sailors,,how safe shipping would be !!!!!!!!

Hi Capt. Ted,

I've been in this business for almost 40 years and have seen such cycles repeated again and again in various sectors of the industry. It's a perennial pepetuum mobile ....

Rgds,
Robert.

hi robert
I know,,now 39 years here
and why management should change,,when it comes hard to hard they get either bailed by banks or by the governments as in Germany happened with some renowned companies,,if they would let them go bust, companies which were managed good would have an easier time now and would not have to compete with those who have the governments ears.
and,,they never lern,,making the same mistakes over and over again. The thinking goes today in quarterly steps,, from bonus to bonus, not in long terms anymore

NOW!!!,,,if we could get rid of the sailors,,how safe shipping would be !!!!!!!!
