Tow of the GLOBAL CHANGE?
« on: March 08, 2013, 09:00:43 AM »
Hi all,

I don't know if you some of you get Piet Sinke's Maritime News Clippings, but this morning's edition contained a picture of the tug GLOBAL CHANGE (ex-SMIT LONDON) towing an old VLCC off the island of Bioko, near Cameroon. I have looked up both the GLOBAL CHANGE and the Gulf of Guinea on Marinetraffic, but that did not yield anything.

Can anyone tell me which old tanker is being towed by the GLOBAL CHANGE? Thanks for your help guys!

I believe it is either the TRISTAR DUBAI or the TRISTAR KUWAIT.

No, it can't be. The vessel being towed is much larger than the Tristar sisters, and must be an old FSO of VLCC or possibly suezmax size. (The tell-tale FSO signs here being e.g. helideck aft, extra crane aft of midships and no rudder.)

Color and funnels does not match the "Oloibiri". Hope someone can solve it.

For sure not the Tristar Dubai or Tristar Kuwait.
These were 2 former Maersk vessels and they were smaller then the one that's pictured.
It's definitly not a ex maersk vessel.

cheers
