From the quoted article, it is apparently now on dry dock at Falmouth. Any volunteers for some spotting there this weekend?

Thank goodness for "those standard boring-looking Damen freighters". In these days of abysmal freight rates, at least they give owners a chance of providing vessels that many charterers want. Furthermore, they are an important factor in keeping building coasts low and thus maintaining the shipbuilding industry in the Netherlands. I would like to hear about your alternative.

Not sure about that, as with most Damen vessels it was outbuilt, this one in Ukraine, and only fitted out in Netherlands.

I am very well aware of that. The cascos are built in many different places, but that does not lessen the argument that the standard designs are helping to keep the Dutch shipbuilding industry alive. Bergum, Kampen, Lemmer, Stroobos etc etc. What is there in the UK (or even Germany, Denmark, Norway and so on)to match places such as those? You completely miss the point of what I was saying. The ships were DESIGNED as standard vessels in the Netherlands. The location of hull construction is irrelevant.

Whether you want to go to port or not is completely irrelevant. Without those "boring looking freighters", there would eventually be no ports because owners would not have economical ships. So there would be no ship spotting at all for future generations. Thank goodness that ship builders and ship owners have much more to do than look at black & white photos on a computer monitor. Come to think of it, I and many other enthusiasts also enjoy looking at modern ships in real life.

Well let me put it another way. Given a choice between a port that has some "boring looking freighters" in, and a port that is deserted or has been converted to a marina (I can see you are not British but British readers will understand - Exmouth, Preston, Whitby, Selby, West Bay, Charlestown, Par, Watchet, etc, etc,), I know which I would choose. I'll leave you to your computer screen. But do try to get out more. If you care to open your mind, you will see lots of interest in modern ships - changes of name, funnel colours, charterers, trading routes.

Why do press reports name of this vessel as "Huelin Renouf Dispatch" whilst photos show her name as "Huelin Dispatch"?

I assume its the press getting it wrong again.

Perhaps its because Huelin Renouf refer to the ship as Huelin Renouf Dispatch in their press statement .."Statement ref yesterday's incident involving the Huelin Renouf Dispatch".

It looks like it is in Dry Dock 3 in Falmouth's A & P shipyard. This is a difficult one to get photo's of, but I'll have a look, possibly tomorrow

It looks like it is in Dry Dock 3 in Falmouth's A & P shipyard. This is a difficult one to get photo's of, but I'll have a look, possibly tomorrow
